How to Edit Your Vendor Profile
Associate members of the Metropolitan Building Managers of New York (Metro BMNY) — the vendors and service providers in our community — get a public profile that members of the association can see. Your vendor profile is separate from your personal profile. Personal details (your phone, your email, your home address) live on your My Profile page; the vendor profile is the public-facing listing of your business.
This page walks you through editing the listing.
Who this page is for
Vendor profiles are only available to associate members. If you are a regular member (resident manager or superintendent), the My Vendor Profile menu item will not appear in your sidebar — you do not need this page. (You will still see the Vendors link in the sidebar — that one shows the public directory of associate members and is available to everyone.)
What you need
- Your member website login
- Your business details (name, description, services, contact info)
- A photo of your business card or company logo (one image, optional but recommended)
Where to find it
- Log in to portal.metropolitanbmny.com.
- In the sidebar, click My Vendor Profile.
- The form opens with your current listing pre-filled.
What you can edit
The vendor profile is intentionally minimal — building managers want quick scannable listings, not long sales pages.
- Headline — your company name as it appears in the directory (e.g., A+ Electric)
- Description — a short paragraph about what your company does
- Category — pick the closest match (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, windows, etc.)
- Services — a short list of specific services you offer
- Contact email — where service requests are sent
- Phone — optional but recommended
- Website — your company website, if you have one
- Business Address — your business address, optional
Click Save Changes when you are done. The board reviews edits before they go live in the public directory — this is the same approval gate as the original signup, but turnaround is usually a day or two.
What members see
Once approved, your listing appears in the public vendor directory on the Metro BMNY website. Members can:
- Browse vendor profiles
- Read your description and services
- Send a service request through the Request Service button on your profile
Service requests come straight to the contact email on your profile. The association does not see them — the inquiry is between you and the requesting member.
What you cannot do here
- You cannot proactively contact members. The association is inbound-only — members reach out to you through the request form, not the other way around. This is a hard rule across the platform.
- You cannot see the member directory. Vendor profiles are public; the member directory is board-only. This is by design.
- You cannot upload more than one photo. The listing is meant to be quick to scan. One business card or logo is the standard.
If your business changes hands
If your company sells, merges, or closes, email admin@metropolitanbmny.com. We will either transfer the listing to the new owner or archive it cleanly. Do not just edit the headline — the board approval process is also a check that the listing matches a real member account.
